May is Mental Health Month

Posted May 7, 2015 by Premier Disability Services, LLC® May is observed nationwide as Mental Health Awareness month.  During the month of May, various organizations and individuals work toward recognizing and promoting the importance of mental health.  At Premier Disability Services, we plan to do our part to help further this noble cause.  This month, our staff members are planning to walk in the 6th Annual 5K Walk for Mental Wellness taking place in Anoka, Minnesota.

The Consultative Examination

Posted April 30, 2015 by Premier Disability Services, LLC® The Social Security Administration (SSA) may schedule a claimant for what is called a consultative examination (CE) during their claim. This examination is performed by an independent physician who is contracted by SSA to perform an evaluation of a claimant’s physical or mental impairments. Often, these examinations are scheduled when a claimant’s medical file is out of date, the file lacks imaging or other objective findings, and/or the file lacks evidence of a specific impairment, such as a psychological condition.

What if I move while my Social Security claim is pending?

Posted April 23, 2015 by Premier Disability Services, LLC® After filing a claim for disability benefits, many claimants will inevitably face a situation where they are required to move for various reasons. Some claimants may move simply because they have found a better residence, and unfortunately some claimants will be required to move due to financial reasons. Regardless of the circumstances, claimants must remember to update the Social Security Administration (SSA) with their updated contact information.
