December 1st was World Aids Day

Posted December 18, 2015 by Premier Disability Services, LLC® This past December 1st was World Aids Day, which is a day where people across the globe unite to remember those who have died of the Aids virus and to show support to those currently living with this disease. While strong scientific advances have been made in HIV treatment, there are still a significant number of people living with HIV/Aids all over the world.

A person suffering from complications related to an HIV or Aids diagnosis may be eligible for Social Security Disability benefits. As with any condition, it comes down to the severity of the impairment and the related limitations. If the condition meets a precise set of factors, it may be determined to meet or equal listing 14.08. In that case, the Social Security Administration (SSA) may be able to find the person disabled based only on those factors. Otherwise, SSA will review the medical evidence to determine the specific limitations associated with a person’s HIV/Aids and then determine whether they can work at the substantial gainful activity level.

Premier Disability Services, LLC assists claimants diagnosed with HIV/Aids on a daily basis. If you are suffering from one of these conditions and it prevents you from working, please contact our office for a free evaluation.
