Social Security Wants to Conduct My Disability Hearing by Video?

Posted February 13, 2015 by Premier Disability Services, LLC® The majority of claimants waiting for a disability hearing have most likely received a letter from their hearing office stating that Social Security’s (SSA) rules on conducting hearings via video teleconferencing have changed.   Hearings conducted using video teleconferencing (VTC) allow the Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) and the claimant to appear that the hearing from different locations.  During a VTC hearing, the claimant will be able to see and communicate with the ALJ from a different location using a color television monitor.  The ALJ will have the same capabilities from his or her location.

Social Security Update Shows Disturbing Trend

Posted February 6, 2015 by Premier Disability Services, LLC® The Social Security Administration (SSA) recently released an update of their disabled worker beneficiary statistics by calendar year, quarter, and month.  The data provided by SSA revealed that the disturbing trend of decreasing Social Security Disability awards has continued through 2014.  In fact, over the last five years, the number of awarded claims based on a claimant’s initial application has declined significantly each year.  To be fair, the number of applications has also declined.  However, the fact that less and less disabled workers are awarded benefits each year is certainly unsettling.

Kim Sorenson selected as the 2014 Premier Disability Services, LLC Employee of the Year

Posted January 30, 2015 by Premier Disability Services, LLC® On January 16, 2015 Kim Sorenson was presented with the award for the 2014 Employee of the Year. Kim has been with Premier Disability Services, LLC since July of 2012. In July of 2014 Kim was promoted to a Department Lead by her supervisors. The award is given each year to the employee that best resembles first class customer service as voted by our staff.
